Prepare for 100 Days of Despair with the First English Character Introductions for The Hundred Line-Last Defense Academy-, Launching April 24 on Nintendo Switch

TORRANCE, Calif. — January 14, 2025 — XSEED Games, the independent-minded publishing brand of Marvelous USA, Inc., today released the first character introduction video for The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-. Highlighting characters from the Special Defense Unit—a team tasked with keeping the school safe for the next 100 days—the trailer kicks off the global “100 Days to Launch” campaign filled with announcements, videos, and more, each day until the game’s release on April 24, 2025.From the twisted minds of Kazutaka Kodaka (Danganronpa) and Kotaro Uchikoshi (Zero Escape series), The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy- features adventure and tactical RPG elements presented through a chilling, tense storyline which leads players to multiple possible despair-filled endings. Today’s announcement introduces five of the members of the Special Defense Unit, along with the protagonist, Takumi Sumino.

Special Defense Unit Characters

Takumi Sumino / “Everyman” – The main character of this story. A completely average high school boy from a completely average family. He can be a little indecisive and pessimistic at times, but when he has something to protect, he’ll fight with everything he’s got.

Eito Aotsuki / “Voice of Reason” – Takumi’s most trusted ally. Eito cares very deeply for his friends and isn’t shy about expressing those feelings, corny as they may sound. He’s been weak and sickly since he was little, but his impressive intellect might be just what the team needs to guide them through the war safely.

Darumi Amemiya / “Manic Emo Dream Girl” – A girl known for her mood swings and obsession with all things dark and depressing. She’s a big fan of killing game stories and has no fear of death. If she has to die, all she wants is a death that’s as dramatic and flamboyant as humanly possible.

Ima Tsukumo / “Twin – Big Brother” – One of a set of twins – Ima is the elder by a few minutes.

He acts like a carefree joker, but underneath that humor is a hint of something darker. He thinks of nothing but protecting his sister. If anything – or anyone – dares to threaten Kako’s safety, Ima will show them no mercy.

Kako Tsukumo / “Twin – Little Sister” – One of a set of twins – Kako is the younger by a few minutes.

She’s prone to spacing out, but also has a keen mind and a healthy sense of curiosity. Kako is a big fan of mystery stories and wants to be a private investigator when she grows up.

Kurara Oosuzuki / “Rich Girl Among Rich Girls” – The scion of one of the wealthiest families humanity has ever known. She’s proud, overbearing, and acts like she’s better than anyone else. She always wears a strange tomato mask, never showing her true face.

Developed by TooKyo Games Inc. and Media.Vision Inc. and to be published physically and digitally on the Nintendo Switch™ in the Americas by XSEED Games, The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy- will release on April 24, 2025. The title will be supported with a physical release on the platform including a Standard Edition available for an MSRP of $59.99 and a limited edition available for an MSRP of $99.99. The limited edition includes a copy of the game on Nintendo Switch™, an art book featuring work from fan-favorite artists Rui Komatsuzaki and Shimadoriru, a CD soundtrack with 10 songs from the game’s original score, an acrylic diorama featuring the main cast, a metal Last Defense Academy pin, a lenticular art card, a printed copy of an original The Hundred Line short novel, and 15 character art cards. Both physical editions are available for preorder via the Marvelous USA Online Store and participating retailers.

The title will be published globally on Windows PC via Steam and digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch in Europe simultaneously by Aniplex Inc.
